Join our Volunteer Team!
Volunteers are a valuable resource and asset to the Brockville Arts Centre and The City of Brockville!
They are assigned to various roles including scanning tickets, acting as ushers, and supporting those patrons wishing for additional assistance within the limits of the theatre.
Volunteers represent The Brockville Arts Centre. As such, their primary responsibility is to ensure that audience members feel welcomed and that they have an enjoyable, comfortable experience in a safe environment.
Time Commitment
While it may vary, applicants should be able to work a minimum of 2 shifts each month, plus a mandatory training session scheduled in the Fall.
Shifts
Shifts are generally scheduled for evenings and weekends, but may also include mornings and afternoons. An average shift typically lasts between 3 to 5 hours.
Perks
Volunteers will have the opportunity to watch performances whenever possible while working and will be invited to attend volunteer events at the BAC.
Flexibility and Enthusiasm
Volunteers need to be flexible with their duties during shifts, maintain a cheerful and welcoming disposition, take direction well, and use their best judgment to ensure patrons feel properly assisted and welcomed during their visits.
Volunteer Usher Responsibilities
- Act as Ambassadors for the Brockville Arts Centre
- Assist with safe evacuation in case of emergency (training provided)
- Enforce Brockville Arts Centre policies and rules assertively, professionally, and courteously
- Greet and assist patrons
- Scan tickets, seat patrons and hand out programs
Qualifications
- Must successfully go through an interview
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time as well as the ability to climb and descend stairs
- Ability to present yourself in a friendly, outgoing manner
- Experience in, or an appreciation of, the arts and entertainment business
- Basic computer and internet skills for shift scheduling, with the ability to receive and respond to emails
- Strong communication skills
- Must be 14 years old
