Arts Centre Etiquette

Please make sure you review the code of conduct, both for the Arts Centre and in your competition package.

In some cases, failure to follow the rules set by the Arts Centre or by Candace/Believe Staff risk dancer disqualification, or removal from the premises.

r

Zero Tolerance

Our staff and volunteers have the right to be treated with dignity and respect at all times. Use of profanity, harassment, verbal threats, or any acts of violence or intimidation will not be tolerated towards employees.

Respect Other Guests

Be mindful of your volume while in the main lobby, as loud noises and conversations can carry into the auditorium. Dancers are asked not to practice in the lobby or backstage areas, both for their safety and that of others nearby.

Food & Drink Rules

Outside food and drink are strictly prohibited and cannot be brought inside the Arts Centre. Concessions are available on-site at our Bar & Canteen area located in the main lobby.  Concessions may be eaten in the lobby or auditorium.

Food and drink are NOT permitted in the dressing rooms/trailers, except for bottled water.

Silence Your Phones

Please make sure your phone is off or set to silent when you enter the auditorium to help prevent interruptions and distractions while dancers are on-stage.

Backstage Access

For safety reasons, only Competition and BAC Staff with visible ID Badges are permitted access to the backstage area via the stage proscenium door.

Video & Photography

There is absolutely no videotaping, photography, or recording of any kind permitted in the dressing rooms or the auditorium (excluding Award Breaks). Routines may risk disqualification.

Fire Safety

Auditorium capacity is limited to the number of seats available; anyone entering the auditorium must be seated promptly — no exceptions.

Please take your seat as soon as the routine ends. If seating is not available, you will be asked to wait in the lobby. As per Fire Code Regulations, it is forbidden to stand/sit in, or obstruct the aisles and areas designated as fire lanes, such as along the back wall or near emergency exits.

Stage Safety

Only authorized staff, instructors, and dancers are permitted on the stage at any time — family/guests are not permitted.

Do not jump on or off the stage. Do not touch cable lines or other sound/electrical equipment, both for your own safety and for the integrity of the Arts Centre hardware. Damage may incur repair fees.

Dressing Room Cleanliness

Studios are responsible for keeping dressing rooms/trailers clean and refuse-free. They may be subject to a cleaning fee in cases where repair or extensive cleaning is required — see your competition package for details. Food and drink are not permitted in the dressing rooms, except for bottled water.
